MY STORY & PHILOSOPHY

I make pottery you want to use whether it's in your kitchen, dining room, bedroom, office or whereever.
I use both stoneware and porcelain that are high fired for durability. Mugs, bowls, plates, vases, candle holders are all in play. Lily spends hours watching me (hoping I'll reach for the treat bowl).

My process is simple. Â I wake up, get coffee, think about the day and mostly pottery. Â What will I make, how will I make it, what design will I do, what chores are there needing minding. I then go to my studio out my back door to make something happen. Usually, I grab a lump of clay and begin wedging, thinking about what I am creating. Â I mold it on the wheel into what it wants to be, not always what I want it to be! Â Once I have it formed, I either start the decorating or fire it the first time for bisque. Â I then intensely begin the glazing and decorating. Â I love this part, but it can take hours as some of my designs are intricate. Â Each piece is my baby so I take extra time thinking about each design, colors to use and even how the clay will look with this design. Â I then high fire it at cone 5 or 6. Â Sometimes I do another round of surface decoration with lusters - mother of pearl or 24ct gold - and then fire one or two times more. Â Even though each piece takes a lot of time, it is always a labor of love. Â My hope is you will also enjoy (and use!) each piece as much as I enjoy making it!
